Why Participate?
The Lake Nona Life Project is looking to gain insights on “What keeps someone well?”. To answer this question, we are conducting a multi-generational research study that is huge in size and ambitious in vision. Lake Nona is the ideal environment for such a study because of “Citizen Scientists” like you and the scientific researchers that live and work in Medical City. The Lake Nona Life Project is uniquely positioned to make a significant impact in our community and in communities across the globe, but it’s only possible with your help.
"70 - 90% of chronic diseases are lifestyle preventable…” Willet, Walter (1970, January 01) Prevention of Chronic Diseases Means of Diet and Lifestyle Changes.
Knowing this, the Life Project is hoping to get answers to the following questions and more:
How can sleep impact your performance?
What are the most nutritious foods for your body type?
Which strategies are most effective for lowering anxiety and managing depression?
What role does personalized medicine (ex. genetic testing, microbiome) play in improving your health and well-being?

YOUR PARTICIPATION Will MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Getting involved in the Lake Nona Life Project is easy.
To be one of Lake Nona’s thousands of Lake Nona Life Project Participants, click the Participate tab. Once there you will be asked to electronically sign an informed consent form and complete a brief online survey. You are now a Life Project Member and together we will Make History.
The survey will ask you a wide range of questions about personality, health, lifestyle, and even how social networks and pets impact your well-being. It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Everything you share will be secure and kept private and you are free to opt out at anytime.
Every aspect of The Lake Nona Life Project has been carefully crafted by a team of experienced researchers and reviewed by an external Institutional Review Board to help ensure that your rights and welfare as a study participant are protected.
Community-based research studies Can be game-chanGing.
For example, past studies similar to the Life Project, such as the Framingham Heart Study, have provided the world tremendous life-saving health knowledge that we now take for granted, including:
Cigarette smoking increases the risk of heart disease
High blood pressure increases risk of stroke
Obesity is a risk factor for heart failure
Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains may help protect against hypertension
